Billions of plastic toothbrushes are thrown away each year, most of which end up in landfills and oceans. Sustainability is paramount to Kauchy, so we spent a lot of time to find the right biodegradable toothbrush. When we came across The Humble Co., we knew we had found it. Not only are they dedicated to creating efficient, sustainable, and beautifully designed tooth-care products, they are also facilitating oral health care to children in need with each purchase.
"When we are lucky enough to be born in an affluent part of the world, it should be our duty to take care of the less fortunate. Many children will never own any oral care products and we are depleting natural resources and filling up the oceans with used products.
Can we change our ways of production and consumption? Can we help provide oral care products to those that need it most? The answer is Yes!"
Noel Abdayem (founder of The Humble Co.)
Dentist Noel Abdayem created The Humble Co. in 2013 from a shared commitment to oral health. He was convinced by the idea that it's not necessary to harm our environment just to brush our teeth properly. Since then, The Humble Co. has replaced over 12 million plastic brushes and funded 30 Humble Smile Foundation projects from Cambodia to Nicaragua in the process.
A team of Swedish dentists developed the Humble toothbrush through extensive testing of existing and new models. The handle was designed with two curved areas: one to provide a firm grip and the other to make the neck of the brush narrow, making it easier to reach even the trickiest areas of the mouth.
Did you know that bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth? In that way, it's considered one of the world's most sustainable materials. Certain types of bamboo can grow up to 35 inches per day! With such fast regrowth, the supply is highly sustainable and affordable enough for everyday items. The handle of the Humble brush is made of 100% biodegradable bamboo, from an FSC certified supplier in Ningbo, China. The FSC is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization, established to promote responsible management of the world's forests. Thanks to this certification, both our customers and we can be sure that the bamboo in the Humble brush is grown responsibly. Driven by sourcing bamboo from China, The Humble Co. also manufactures there to streamline logistics and reduce the carbon print of production. Manufactures are ISO-certified, ensuring reasonable working hours, no child labor, and a fair wage.
Some of the world's most respected dentists support The Humble Co. toothbrushes. The bristles are made of BPA-free high-grade nylon, ensuring the toothbrushes are at least as effective as traditional plastic toothbrushes. The humble packagings are all made from recycled paper materials, provided by another FSC-certified supplier.
The Humble Co. explores several ways of producing dental products respectfully, always being kind to our planet and humble to others. We hope you will go humble and give smiles, just as we have!
