We just opened our doors in Poblenou, a neighbourhood that is making waves with its mix of local makers, organic eateries and sustainable movements. We knew that this would be the perfect place to set up shop and have since taken our time to create a space that is warm and welcoming, but that will also give you a small moment of calm. A moment to slow down, wander and discover. Because we really believe that in order to change the world, you need to take the time to engage in healthy habits.
“Good design is honest.” –Dieter Rams
Which is why every item at Casa TAOS has been carefully selected by us and meets the criteria of timeless design, ethical production and transparent distribution. Each and every product at Casa TAOS has its own story to tell. And it's beautiful. These stories come alive through each local artisan and maker. Through their choice of materials, their personal paths, their dreams and quirks — they all have a place under our roof and there’s no better way to experience them than up close. We want you to cup your hands around beautiful hand-thrown ceramics, smell the aroma of our single origin coffees and let your eyes wander through an interior full of vintage design icons. You’ll surely find something you love.
We’re open daily from 9am to 5pm on Carrer d’Alaba 100. A perfect day at the Casa starts with an early SlowMov coffee made by our barista Mireia. Trust us when we say she’s a real drinks-activist. From coffee to kombucha, she’s earned her stripes in the world of sustainable gastronomy and will happily share her knowledge with you. ]]>We’ve rounded up our favourite sustainable home items, to create a small moment of calm of your own. It doesn’t take much to connect with the moment.
The perfect mood-setting candles are made from a vegan soy base, enhanced with all-natural uplifting scents like neroli, sandalwood or guaiac wood. The candles are all hand-made in small batches near Toulouse, France which happens to be right next to Grasse, where master perfumers create the enveloping fragrances for each candle.
Mette Duedahl’s Land collection is inspired by the colors of the Danish coast. You’ll be transported to a calm autumn setting by the soft tones and blue hues that make the perfect reference to nature’s colors and textures.
Shake the cold and warm up with a selection of fine herbal teas. Their caffeine-free, fully organic blends will get you into a calm flow while you slowly sip on notes that range from bright fruity to full-bodied earthy.
Remember that strong metal aftertaste or rusty deposits from traditional tea filters? Well, make sure you swap that for a clean option, to enjoy your best loose leaf teas to the fullest. A practical and easygoing homeware essential, this glass tea filter preserves the unadulterated pure taste of your favourite teas thanks to the borosilicate glass.
Lactose free, vegan and delish: this fall calls for a conscious treat every once in a while and we like to indulge guilt-free. But, since nothing beats the real deal, you should stop by and taste them yourself. You’ll find all our TAOS product at the Casa TAOS
]]>We all share the same vision: to be the creators of a better tomorrow. Today, we continue to bring together our own world of sustainable makers, iconic vintage furniture and offline experiences to enrich your sustainable daily practices. Welcome to TAOS, the art of sustainability.
]]>Our vision at TAOS is to inspire more people to think about their daily practices. We like to spark curiosity and consciousness by selecting sustainably designed products from honest origins; all with a story to tell.
Striving to make conscious choices every step along the way does not come easy. It starts with an intent, with a true feeling of wanting to do better, to live a more conscious lifestyle. Over the course of this year, we’ve listened with our deepest self. It has opened many doors, made us open and receptive. We’ve learned the importance of staying in the present. The present good: to reflect, be still and discover the art of sustainability.
This time of openness has helped us to discover hundreds of beautifully designed products made by independent makers and designers. Independent dreamers making products that stay close to their origins and home goods that truly do good. What started out as a passion for iconic vintage furniture has brought us here today, with everyone we’ve met along the way. And we’re ready to keep growing together.
TAOS is a principle, sustainability is a process. To be aware of the change that is happening you must pay attention with an open mind. The consequences of our behaviour are inescapable and we know that being human is no excuse. As people, we have a responsibility towards Mother Earth to strive to make more sustainable choices. If we can learn to truly listen, to take a good look at our daily practices we might feel a light tremble, a growing desire to be more aware — learn to listen, the shift is already in motion.
WE ARE balance
WE ARE abundance
WE ARE bliss
Transparency has always been at the heart of everything we do. Because we have a deeply-rooted desire to protect our natural world and show that good products really have nothing to hide. In fact, we’ve made transparency a standard. This balance empowers consumers and makers alike by stimulating local, up-cycled and fair production practices.
We translate this sustainable promise into every aspect of our daily practice: from the goods you can shop online to our interior projects. Rest assured that everything is done with the environment in mind.
“Consciousness and not selfishness is both the means of teaching and the teaching itself.”
– Lao Tzu’s Tao Te
We are aware that consumption and sustainability don’t always go hand in hand. But we’re here to challenge that status quo and give you all the tools you need to do better. We want people to think consciously about the items they have in their lives, to spark curiosity and inspire people to make more sustainable and ethical choices.
Happiness should not be the sole goal to pursue. Instead, focus on a lifestyle that is lived consciously, fully, wholeheartedly. Your actions will make the wheels turn towards a better future and the planet will reap the rewards. Our sustainable journey starts here. Join the movement. Slow down, choose consciously and dream of a better tomorrow with us.
]]>No nibble says comfort like a good cookie. Easy to make and the fillings can be replaced to whatever’s in season, or in your pantry. Here’s a no-fuzz recipe by Begin Vegan Begun for delicious oat and pecan cookies that we love:
Ingredients:
Method:
Squash the banana with a fork in a large bowl. Then add the oats and pecan nuts. If you’re using the leftover oats from the oat milk, you’ll want to add a spoonful of flour so the mixture won’t be too runny. Stir well.
Grease your oven tray with a pastry brush and preheat the oven. Make small mounds of dough onto your tray and press them lightly with the help of a dough scraper. Perfection is not needed, these cookies look beautiful just as they are. Bake until golden brown, approximately 30 minutes, then leave to cool down.
While the cookies are baking, prepare a refreshing jar of iced tea. Steep your favourite herbal tea blend into your regular tea pot. Make it a pretty strong brew, trust us. Allow it to cool off and, in the meantime, cool a large jar with plenty of ice. Once the tea has cooled down to room temperature, transfer to the jar.
Add refreshing fruits or fresh herbs. One of our favourite combinations is fresh thyme and citrus fruits. Or pear and cinnamon. Berries and basil — really anything will do, it’s about creating an eye-catching display for your iced tea. Play around with flavours and textures. Just make sure you treat your tea with reverence.
‘Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.’ — Hans Christian Andersen
While you’re waiting for the cookies to bake and the iced tea to cool, get started on a floral arrangement that will wow your guests or soothe your senses. This task might seem simple, but don’t overlook the fact that flowers are healing. We humans depend on food from flowering plants, but our relationship to flowers is also deeply rooted in emotion. Behind every known flower is a symbolic meaning, an ancient belief. To create a hand-picked bouquet is like composing a symphony of connotations. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said: ‘The earth laughs in flowers’. And so too, these simple recipes and rituals are sure to put a smile on your face.
]]>Fitting in a moment of reflection into your daily schedule might sound difficult, but that’s the beauty of mindful exercises: you can start anywhere, at any moment. It’s all about giving yourself well-earned space to reconnect and feel grounded. We’ve gathered some of our favourite mindful moments for you to practice no matter where you’re at.
These small exercises will lead you to a mindful mindset. This is not an exercise, but a conscious choice to do better. Making mindful choices in everything you undertake is about swapping out harmful habits in favour of positive changes. Mindful living encompasses all and more of these little exercises. Resist the automatic. When you challenge your mind and habits every day, you’ll find yourself more present and grounded. Mindfulness is being present, embodied awareness, and feeling a true connection to the world around you.
]]>We believe in the power of home-cooking to bring people together. The power to be mindful of what you eat and how you cook. That is to say, start making thoughtful choices when it comes to your eating habits.
Wine is at the centre of any dinner table, passed along from glass to glass and paired to enhance the flavours of a wholesome meal. A good wine is the first and last step to ensure a good evening. All the more important to make sure it’s a sustainable option.
Natural winemakers Dido and Jurriaan founded Vinyes Tortuga<hyperlink> after travelling the world from vineyard to vineyard to learn the craft of winemaking from the best winemakers around the globe. They swapped their original hometown of Amsterdam to settle in the foothills of the Catalan Pyrenees. Where their 9,5 hectares of vineyards are nestled in the natural reserve of Albera; where strong winds and rocky floors create a unique climate. Their wines are, much like themselves, down-to-earth and unique.
“ Life’s too short to drink bad wine.”
They spent their initial year pruning and healing the earth around their vineyards. As well as turning an old shed into a sustainable home from which to enjoy life together with their cats and mastiff pup, Bowie. They decided early on that they wanted to celebrate grapes in their purest form. So all their wines are produced organically, following biodynamic farming principles resulting in fine natural wines: wines made without any additions, and without filtration or fining.
After opening a bottle or two, mindful cooking calls for another key ingredient: olive oil. This golden liquid has been used for centuries in mediterranean kitchens. Its fruity flavour and health-boosting properties are praised for good reason. So treat your olive oil with the same reverence: invest in organic, cold pressed oils like the ones by Aceites Alguijuela <hyperlink>. These southern-Spanish olive oils really embody slow-living. No part of the production process is rushed and they bring together all the aspects of climate, soil and olive varieties to create premium virgin olive oil.
Don’t forget to complement your meal with thoughtful table-dressing. Give your get-together ambiance to enjoy the company and make sure to savour every minute. Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere with hand-thrown ceramics and natural wooden tableware by Secret Barry <hyperlink>. These wooden spoons and tableware are hand-crafted in Barcelona by Barry, who is a maker pur-sang. While he was majoring in arts he couldn’t pick one direction, so he did them all: woodworking, film and even lithography. Over the course of his life, he learnt that the act of creating something beautiful gives life meaning:
“Everyone has a dormant creativity inside of them. Creativity is a way of living life; we all have a story to tell.”
Don’t let the moment end after all the feasting has taken place. Treat everyone to a heartwarming cup of single-origin coffee. Coffee is one of our most common pantry items and deserves to be of good quality while also actively making the world a better place. SlowMov has pledged to do just that. Their organically-grown coffees come from remote corners of the world, products from specific microclimates and areas, farmed using careful production processes. Their coffees change with the seasons, making the beast of each bean.
After all the wine bottles have been emptied and the plates scraped clean, it’s time to unwind. Scrub your kitchen to its former glory and take some time to look back on what made it an evening to remember. We hope to have inspired you to embark on a more sustainable journey. Taking time to create a conscious meal and placing care and attention on creating a more sustainable dining experience will create a memorable, fulfilling experience. Or, as Barry <hyperlink> likes to say: I’ll take my time enjoying the beauty of things, and the rest will flow.
]]>We have put together a special starter pack for every one of those moments of the week that call for self-care.
Cleaning Day - Making your interior spotless can be an exercise in meditation. Try to see it as a moment to clear your home and mind at the same time. And, because cleaning shouldn’t come at Earth’s expense, make sure you swap out your harsh cleaning liquids for sustainable non-toxic solutions. Your health will thank you and so will the planet.
Kinn’s cleaning solutions were created by a mother and daughter looking for alternatives to traditional cleaning products. They created a whole line of homecare that is naturally derived, safe, and non-toxic. Made from biodegradable ingredients that don't impact the environment negatively, or your health for that matter. Green cleaning will not only make cleaning easier, you will protect the environment and keep your home safe.
“We founded KINN because we think that if we’re looking after what we put on our skin, it also makes sense to look after what we use in our homes. Our ethos is Clean Beauty™ for you, your family and your home. Organic, natural and eco friendly can be on-trend too.”
— Marie & Sophie
A night in - Unwinding should be all about being kind to your body and mind. Taking some time for yourself, mindfully, will re-energize you for the days ahead. The practice of mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress and it will give you a chance to truly connect with yourself and your feelings. Creating a grounded space is the first step: Create a comfortable space on your favorite armchair — that beautiful iconic furniture item that’s been with you for ages. Then, light a candle that will calm your senses. Mint Pantari creates vegan candles, free from toxic ingredients, enhanced by natural oil and fragrances that are bound to get you ready to seize the day.
Don’t forget to feed your mind too. Pick up a good book that will inspire you, creatively. Taschen’s collection of classic books will allow you to travel without the journey. Make sure to write down your thoughts and ideas in a personal notebook. Putting pen to paper will turn your dreams and ambitions into goals.
A spa day - nothing says self-care like a spa day. Human touch has healing properties, so indulge: massage yourself and pamper your body with clean skincare. Be aware of what you put onto your body and make sure it’s ethical, cruelty-free and nourishing. Our favorite beauty picks are made by Tangent GC. Sustainable skincare made from pure vegetable oils and free of preservatives, artificial colors and petrochemicals. Each eco-conscious beauty product is naturally perfumed with scents like cedar, citrus and oud. Indulge guilt-free.
Slow mornings — The absolute best. Being able to take it slow in the morning is the ultimate little luxury. So make sure you take your time and make yourself that ultimate cup of coffee. Slow drip and pour-over specialty coffees are the realm of SlowMov: single-origin organic coffees cultivated in specific microclimates. The taste is unique and you will be supporting local coffee roasters and farmers from around the world, one sip at a time. Enjoy from a ceramic cup by Low Key Goods and get ready to seize the day.
It goes to show you should never compromise sustainability for your self-care. Engage with your daily habits more mindfully. Swap outdated products and practices in favour of more ethical and sustainable ones. Whichever way you decide to invest your time, remember: you hold the key.

To understand the circular design movement, it’s important to understand why a radical and more restorative approach to design is needed. Try to imagine it as follows: traditional, linear economic models are based on a take-make-dispose approach. This line has one beginning and one end. When it comes to design and production, at the end of this line is an endless landfill and all the contamination that comes with it. It goes without saying that this is not a sustainable option. Pressure on the world’s resources is increasing by the day. As consumers, we have a responsibility to make conscious choices. There really is no Planet B.
However, circular design thinking allows designers new ways to create sustainable, long-lasting value in the circular economy. The groundbreaking approach focuses on four R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair.
We want the Kauchy Home to be a place for you to reconnect with your interior in a healthy way. You have the opportunity to change your daily routines and the products you use in favour of choices that underpin conscious living. So roll up your sleeves, and let’s redesign your home in a circular way.
Reduce - This one is all about your mindset and learning to live better with less. How much is enough? Take a critical look at your interior and be prepared to either say goodbye to some of your items, or pledge to yourself that you have enough. Be selective and appreciate the things you own.
Reuse - One of our personal favorites. Reusing is at the heart of Kauchy’s personal story. We started this online platform because we wanted to create a single digital marketplace for vintage furniture. It started from our personal experience: we moved houses many times and were torn every time we had to leave quality furniture behind. We didn’t consciously realise it back then, but this was the first step we set into conscious selling.
Recycle - Many of our favourite products at Kauchy come with an added bonus of either being carbon neutral or being completely organic. Rhoeco is a beautiful example of a circular brand: their monovarietal teas are packed in Biotrē ® bags made from renewable plant-based resources. While their 'Drink it, plant it' concept encourages people to reuse the biodegradable tea packaging; by repurposing them as containers to grow your own herbs. Rhoeco provides a mix of organic herb seeds ready to be planted inside each tea package, just to nudge you in the right direction.
Repair - There are many ways to go about this one. Try to extend a product’s lifecycle for as long as you can. Taking care of your belongings will make you rediscover your favorite interior pieces. But, if you can’t do it, leave it to a professional design lover. Brutus de Gaper is one of our favourite partners when it comes to vintage design furniture. They know the value of well-designed furniture like no other. They take time and effort to repair every single iconic design piece by hand: to ensure it can be enjoyed for generations to come.
There’s even a fifth R to be added to the circular design movement: Refuse. Don’t be a part of the problem, dream of a better future instead. You can truly disrupt the waste economy by simply refusing to be a part of it. Be critical of the products you buy and make it a goal to get to know the story behind everything you consume. Showing interest in the world around you will enrich your daily life and allow you to feel more involved.
At Kauchy, we make it easy to cut through the noise. By personally selecting independent brands and designers that have chosen to create conscious products. At the heart of each and every one of these products is a sustainable promise waiting to be discovered. Strive to make better choices. The shift is already in motion.
]]>Starting with a positive mindset will make you feel more determined. The actions you choose today create the option to meet a cleaner planet tomorrow. It’s time to embrace your environment for a better outcome and strive for change — it’s the first choice and the easiest effort.
When it comes to home goods, we like to create a sustainable design lifecycle. By finding a better balance between vintage products, sustainability and design. Look for products that wear transparency on their sleeve. Like the vegan and all-natural candles by Mint Pantari. They have been designed in close collaboration with master perfumers, using materials that are non-toxic and biodegradable.
But also make sure to invest in a solid, timeless interior. Vintage goods that are built to last will only grow in value, adding charm to your interior. Investing time and patience to source an iconic vintage piece will feel far more gratifying than hastily buying a mass-produced copy.
But you don’t have to go all-in on the first try. There are many brands and creatives out there that are betting for more holistic production cycles. Selecting smaller artisans and supporting local production is a philosophy that benefits you and the planet. Taking time to really discover a product will slow you down. Make you want to get to know it better and understand it a little more. Slowing down is not just an exercise in patience, it’s a positive approach to living more mindfully.
Take Mette Duedahl’s ceramics, for example. Clay can’t be rushed. The process of throwing at the wheel and firing the kiln require time, patience and a deep connection to the material itself. Small variations are normal and are there to be celebrated. There is nothing more beautiful than finding a sustainable balance between a natural material and design. Her ceramics are guided by the values of function, lightness and usability. This creates items that merge the natural aspects of clay with daily functionality. From cups and plates to butter boxes and coffee jars.
The idea that nature and design are two parts of the same story has been explored in many ways. Organic architecture was a design philosophy first coined by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and his iconic ‘Fallingwater’ residence has become the symbol of an international movement. Broaden your horizon on this subject and discover many more uplifting design philosophies. Taschen has beautiful books about groundbreaking art and design that will help you challenge your own daily life. All their publications are completely carbon neutral too.
In our pledge to remain as eco-conscious as possible, we like to take an example from a small country perched high atop the himalayas: Bhutan. A country that proudly states “Gross national happiness is more important than gross national product.”. Their simple promise to remain happy meant economic growth would not undermine their unique culture or environment. Its forest coverage and clean energy production ensure that, in a world threatened by climate change, Bhutan is carbon negative. Every step they take towards the future is taken with the environment in mind.
Remember: if a whole nation can set their mind to reduce their carbon footprint, you can too. Start with a positive intention. Learn to cherish your living space and take it from there. Small gestures will get you on the way. Thinking about design and its whole life cycle will make you feel more deeply connected to your home and to the planet. Good things will follow.
]]>This new pace in life gives us the chance to cook more often. Which is the perfect chance to examine our eating habits up close. Cooking should not just be a pragmatic decision. Nourishing and nurturing yourself is all about connecting — body and mind.
At Kauchy, we are bringing together some of our favourite initiatives and recipes. We want the TAOS Home to be a place for you to reconnect with food and healthy living. To challenge yourself to think about your daily routines and the products you use every day.
The beauty of food lies in its simplicity. We all need food to sustain ourselves, yet we often pay little attention to our relationship with eating. Take these days of seclusion to celebrate good food. To treat each meal as a sacred moment in your daily routine and to challenge your eating habits to become more eco-conscious. So you can keep on contributing to a sustainable lifestyle from home.
Some of our favourite food concepts include the UN’s ActNow Food Challenge. Wholesome recipes made with the entire food-chain in mind:
“ More people are taking a closer look at what they are eating and the impacts of their diets on their health and on the environment. More and more chefs and other food suppliers are focusing on local and organic produce and shifting away from meat-heavy meals and fast food. They are joined by a growing movement of people changing the way they cook and eat.”
On a local level, food pioneers like Laila Gohar are sharing their knowledge on how to create easy and delicious meals from home. Laila is no stranger to experimenting with food, but in these days she is placing all effort on going back to the basics:
“ Good food takes time. Time doesn’t necessarily mean difficult. It just means dedicating yourself to something for a definite period. And working for your food - dedicating your time to nurturing - is one of the most gratifying things on earth.”
For most of us, a meal is also a social activity though. A moment to not only reconnect with yourself, but with friends and loved ones. Amsterdam-based Taverna Series brings you easy recipes, cooked together around a virtual dinner table. It’s a good moment to meet new people, or join with someone else and have some fun.
Whichever way you choose to start cooking, remember that the products you use are just as important. Make every single detail count, from the produce to the items in your household.
Take coffee, for example. It’s one of our most common pantry items and one that deserves to be of good quality while also doing good for the world. We like the coffee’s by SlowMov because they do just that. Each of their specialty blends comes from specific microclimates and areas, using careful production practices and processes while also having 100% compostable packaging.
While preparing your favourite meal, make sure to clean all fruits and veggies carefully. We recommend using a Vegetable Brush or soft Mushroom brush by Iris Hantverk. All these wooden cooking utensils are hand-made from natural materials such as birch, beech, and oak, horsehair and goat hair, as well as plant fibres. They have been produced in a traditional way for over 100 years, contributing to equal-opportunities employment for visually impaired workers.
Once your meal is ready, make sure to celebrate the moment by setting the table. It’s those little details that turn any meal into a feast. We like our dishes paired with hand-thrown ceramics by Low Key Goods and Mette Duehdall. Vibrant teal plates can create a nice juxtaposition with colourful vegetables. While minimalistic stoneware mugs keep your table looking simple. If you want to go all the way, don’t forget that not wasting food is also part of living more consciously. Store your leftovers in a butter box or air-tight jar to preserve all that good stuff for another time.
The world seems to be moving at a different pace right now, so take this as the perfect opportunity to slow down, stay in and enjoy life more consciously.
This new rhythm is a chance to stay positive. To discover new ways of being that you might not have realized before. And we’re here to guide you through our personal approach to taking things easy. Reflect on every aspect of your daily life and take it all in, it’s slow-living step by step.
“ More and more of less and less.”
Re-evaluate what you really need for your daily life. Because we tend to collect stuff we don’t really use. Start by being aware of your surroundings: clean your personal space, discard any clutter and create a new slate, a blank canvas on which to start anew.
Iris Hantverk’s all-natural homecare utensils make cleaning up enjoyable and sustainable. Think of it as a moment of meditation. Nothing is more satisfying than creating a clean and safe space.
Don’t forget to create a home that is timeless, that you will enjoy season after season. Our Kauchy Home guide provides ideas to create an interior that is sustainable and personal at the same time. We value iconic design — the kind that never goes out of style.
And last but not least, don’t forget to take care of yourself. We tend to forget that, in order to enjoy life, we need to look after ourselves, body and mind. So unwind and pamper your body with eco-conscious cosmetics by Tangent G.C.. Made with 100% pure Castile soap and infused with natural scents like Yuzu or Oudh. Made to uplift your senses and keep your body free of artificial coloring, preservatives and petrochemicals.
Then, light a Mint Pantari candle to create a calm space. The organic wax candles are soaked in natural fragrances made by master perfumers from Grasse. Compositions of eucalyptus, verbena, lavender or neroli will help you bring the scent of nature into your home.
Once you’ve set the mood, stimulate your mind with a good book. The time is now to pick up on all your reading: let your thoughts wander through pages full of inspiring stories about designers, makers, artists and dreamers. We hope to inspire you just the same on how to take things slow this spring.
At the heart of what we do is one and the same passion: being the change we want to see in the world of design. We really believe that a beautiful interior is one that is personal and also respects nature.
We know that every little step counts when it comes to making eco-conscious choices. We also know how hard it is to find products that do good and are beautifully made at the same time. That’s why we want to show you how easy it can be to reconcile aesthetics and sustainability through our personalised interior.
Welcome to the TAOS Home, we have created our perfect interior as a space for you to slow down, choose consciously and enjoy a fine selection of interior goods.
We love to combine iconic vintage design with sustainable products by independent designers. So you can rest assured that everything has been sourced with the environment in mind — from the coffee you drink to the couch you sit on. Vintage design is a durable investment that will last a lifetime. We restore our vintage finds to give them a new life because we believe wholeheartedly in a circular buying process; where every quality item is treated with respect and care so it can last for generations.
Take Niels Otto Møller, for example. His designs have lasted generations and are still being manufactured by the family-owned business in Scandinavia. Each interior item strongly represents the Scandinavian mid-century modern vision of practical yet well-made design. To own an Otto Møller chair is like owning a piece of history.
But the TAOS Home leaves room for the smaller gestures too. We like to challenge you to think about each aspect of your daily life, by giving you enough eco-friendly options.
Brushing your teeth with a plastic toothbrush? Make it sustainable and switch to a biodegradable Humble & Co. oral care package.
Or drink a cup of tea that respects all stages of its production cycle. Rhoeco Tea does just that, by combining 100% locally sourced herbal teas with biodegradable packaging.
We are here to prove to you that a more sustainable interior can start with a small gesture. We have just started this journey to live more consciously, but it’s a journey we want to share with you.
]]>This Christmas, we invite you to slow down and shop consciously. To think with intent about what you want to gift and what you can give back. At Kauchy, we are committed to creating a more conscious gifting season. So, we’ve prepared a selection of gifts worth giving that we prize for their unique design and transparency.
Additionally, we will donate 20% of all our Christmas sales to Instituto Terra, a reforestation program in Minas Gerais, Brazil, founded by Lélia and Sebastião Salgado.
Instituto Terra is the result of an ambitious initiative taken in the late 1990’s. It was then that Sebastião and Léila decided to return a former cattle ranch into its original state of subtropical rainforest. The ranch had been exploited to the point of complete deforestation, with all the environmental consequences that follow. They recruited partners, raised funds and, by 1998, Instituto Terra was a fact: an environmental organization dedicated to the sustainable development of the Valley of the River Doce.
The couple planted trees, let nature run free and has since recuperated over 17.000 acres of badly eroded land. The ranch and surrounding area have undergone a complete metamorphosis. The former ranch has been transformed into a fertile woodland where water flows from dried up springs; alive with fauna and flora who now have a safe refuge.
Their story is a gentle reminder of the resilience of nature and how a single conscious action can have a big environmental impact. We stand behind Instituto Terra and invite you to do too. Read more about their journey and shop from our conscious gift selection below.
It all started when three friends Katerina, Vaya and Harry found each other while studying agriculture in Greece. Passionate about nature, they wanted to raise awareness about the environment and play their part in environmental protection by suggesting eco-friendly daily habits like preparing and enjoying a cup of tea.
"We promote well-being while preserving the Earth."
Inspired by the complexity of our ecosystem, the friends created two product ranges of exquisite herbal tea locally sourced in Greece. Both consisting of whole loose, certified organic herbal leaves, flowers and fruits, 100% natural with zero additives & naturally caffeine-free, all hand-processed and packaged ecologically in small batches.
The first range is the 'Drink it, plant it' (LINK PRODUCTS) concept, where the brand encourages people to reuse the biodegradable containers by growing inside their own herbs. To do so, in each package, they provide a seed stick containing a mix of organic herb seeds ready to be planted inside the container. On the other hand, the 'Monovarietals' (LINK PRODUCTS), are packaged in Biotrē ® bags made from renewable plant-based resources.
"We rely on natural cycles and we imitate them at all stages of production. Choosing organic, we choose a much less polluting agricultural system with a very low environmental cost. The package reuse, a concept inspired by the recycle of matter in its natural environment, the decomposing of both packages and finally the incorporation into the soil result in no waste."
The name Rhoeco came up when playing with the words rhoē (meaning flow in Greek), eco (for ecology) and co (for cooperation). Rhoeco is the result of their aspiration to create a product for the present while respecting the past and thinking about the future.

N.O. Møller's path to becoming a design legend began in 1939, when he started the education as a cabinet maker, followed by further studies at the Aarhus School of Design. The knowledge helped him build an excellent method. However, the real look and feel of his design where achieved through the choice of materials and the eloquent curves that highlighted his craftsmanship. In 1944, he founded his proper furniture factory named after his dad JL Møller. The manufacturer still exists and is presently run by the artist's family. Throughout the years, the company has received prestigious rewards such as the Danish Furniture Prize.
What's behind a designer classic? A timeless object, standing quality and trends through generations? Those are some of the questions we ask when searching for the right items to furnish our home in a sustainable and long-lasting way.
To acquire a Møller chair is like holding a beautiful piece of history. Right after the convulsive middle of the century, specifically in 1951, Møller produced some of his most widely known designs; the No. 71 and No. 78 chairs. These chairs strongly represent the Scandinavian mid-century modern vision of practical yet well-made design. Transcendence is not a coincidence. Møller was highly engaged to his materials and knew how to sculpt and obtain the very best of teak, rosewood, oak, black upholstery, corded woven and paper cord seats.
Chairs, chairs, and more chairs, but lucky for us Niels Otto Møller's talent does not end there. His portfolio includes dinner tables, cabinets, and ottomans. All the above are representative, quality pieces appreciated to date and living treasures of design. We have put together a selection of our vintage Møller favourites and are excited to get to know your preferences. N. O. Møller's talent is evident to the eye, but not many have been fortunate enough to confirm it with the other senses. So please, give yourself the chance to take a seat and enjoy.

"When we are lucky enough to be born in an affluent part of the world, it should be our duty to take care of the less fortunate. Many children will never own any oral care products and we are depleting natural resources and filling up the oceans with used products.
Can we change our ways of production and consumption? Can we help provide oral care products to those that need it most? The answer is Yes!"
Noel Abdayem (founder of The Humble Co.)
Dentist Noel Abdayem created The Humble Co. in 2013 from a shared commitment to oral health. He was convinced by the idea that it's not necessary to harm our environment just to brush our teeth properly. Since then, The Humble Co. has replaced over 12 million plastic brushes and funded 30 Humble Smile Foundation projects from Cambodia to Nicaragua in the process.
A team of Swedish dentists developed the Humble toothbrush through extensive testing of existing and new models. The handle was designed with two curved areas: one to provide a firm grip and the other to make the neck of the brush narrow, making it easier to reach even the trickiest areas of the mouth.
Did you know that bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth? In that way, it's considered one of the world's most sustainable materials. Certain types of bamboo can grow up to 35 inches per day! With such fast regrowth, the supply is highly sustainable and affordable enough for everyday items. The handle of the Humble brush is made of 100% biodegradable bamboo, from an FSC certified supplier in Ningbo, China. The FSC is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization, established to promote responsible management of the world's forests. Thanks to this certification, both our customers and we can be sure that the bamboo in the Humble brush is grown responsibly. Driven by sourcing bamboo from China, The Humble Co. also manufactures there to streamline logistics and reduce the carbon print of production. Manufactures are ISO-certified, ensuring reasonable working hours, no child labor, and a fair wage.
Some of the world's most respected dentists support The Humble Co. toothbrushes. The bristles are made of BPA-free high-grade nylon, ensuring the toothbrushes are at least as effective as traditional plastic toothbrushes. The humble packagings are all made from recycled paper materials, provided by another FSC-certified supplier.
The Humble Co. explores several ways of producing dental products respectfully, always being kind to our planet and humble to others. We hope you will go humble and give smiles, just as we have!

During those years, in a bit of a parallel life you could say, photographer Luciano Insua and creative director Ida Johansson were thinking about how they could contribute and inspire people to work towards a slower, more conscious lifestyle. Having worked within the fashion and design industries for many years, they wanted to tell relevant stories about artists and designers while also promoting environmentally responsible products and brands.
You can imagine the five of us felt the vibes immediately when our pragmatism and aesthetics got together to shape a new type of marketplace. What started out as an online platform for pre-loved furniture, grew to become a one-stop-destination for sustainable design in all its forms. Friends and dreamers connected within our community and we were finally complete when stylist Iriana Sepulveda joined the team.
Today, we are driven by a distinctive point of view that prizes craftsmanship and quality — and we’ve only just started this ambitious mission. Our goal is to create a genuinely sustainable marketplace with the finest products, made by independent artisans and iconic designers for you to enjoy at home.
If you’ve made it here, we probably don’t need to tell you how important it is to change our way of consuming. There’s no way to deny the state of our planet and there is no shortage of information on the real, very tangible effects of our carbon footprint. As a team, but first and foremost as people, we wanted to make a difference and decided to use each other’s strengths to pursue the same dream.
You’ll find that sustainability and transparency are at the heart of what we do. So rest assured that each of our items is carefully selected with attention to detail and the environment in mind. In our carefully curated portfolio you will find unique design pieces, ceramics and everyday products that aim to do good in one way or another. All made by designers and artisans we admire.
There are so many aspects to keep in mind when searching for sustainable manufacturers. At times it can be challenging, but we’re here to show you what a delight it is to find makers and dreamers who share the same values.
